This week is birth trauma awareness week in Plymouth for 2019, with the fantastic charity Birth Trauma Association heading up the awareness week. So what is birth trauma? When you are expecting a baby you dream of the perfect birth, whether that be in hospital or at home. It is so exciting to plan for the future with your new baby. Below I am going to share a few of my top tips to keep your baby or child safe while out and about! Keep your baby hydrated When I have a baby in the Plymouth studio I keep the studio HOT. I always advise parents ahead of the session that they will need to keep their baby well fed. In the summer heat children and babies will act in the same way. ALWAYS ensure that your baby has drunk plenty of fluids. Babies can get dehydrated so quickly in the heat in Plymouth it is so important to make sure that they have plenty of milk. Isabella’s floral blue newborn studio session in Plymouth
Beautiful Isabella came to visit me for her floral blue newborn studio session in Plymouth a few weeks ago. She was perfect and we got a range of lovely awake and sleepy shots! Little Isabella was born with a soft cleft palate and spent the first few weeks of her life in Derriford hospital in Plymouth. She is so brave! What is a cleft palate? A cleft palate is where a baby is born with a gap in the roof of their mouth. A soft cleft palate means that the back of the mouth towards the throat is affected by a gap. For a more in depth description of a cleft palate please check out the NHS website. Normally newborns come to me before they are 21 days old.
