I love having a gorgeous session to plan so when Aria’s Mummy said she would like a Winnie the Pooh theme session in Plymouth I was SO excited! All photo sessions are bespoke and I always like to plan something really special for you and your family in the studio. This photograph is a composite image. Aria was posed in a black posing ring and in post production I edited her onto the shelf. This is so that she was kept perfectly safe and secure during her whole session in Plymouth. Newborn safety is SO important! Since posting this photograph online I have had a few emails asking where I bought the outfit from! Thank you so much for your support!! The Winnie the Pooh romper and hat was knitting by myself. Purchases of new knitted rompers can be made via Knitted By Munday on Facebook. I loved it when…
How to prepare for your newborn studio session in Plymouth
This is something I am asked ALL the time so I thought that it was about time that I wrote a blog post specifically aimed to help you best prepare for your newborn studio session in Plymouth! Parents often ask me how we achieve such sleepy curled-up poses during our baby photography sessions in Plymouth. Having had LOTS of babies visit me in the studio (from 4 days old up to 81 days old!) I honestly still believe it is all in the planning ahead of your newborn session. So how can YOU prepare for your newborn studio session in Plymouth? Feed your baby when you arrive to the Plymouth studio Try to feed your baby 3 hours before your session so that when they arrive at the studio they are getting ready for the next feed. Babies tend to want to sleep after a big feed (dont we all?!)…
What if my baby doesn’t sleep during the newborn session?
One of the most common questions I get in my Inbox is: “What if my baby doesn’t sleep during the newborn session?” I just want to assure you straight away that this is OK! Lots of babies decide that their newborn session is far too exciting and they don’t want to sleep in case they miss anything! I LOVE capturing their cute little expressions when they are still awake! And I love it when they give us HUGE yawns because they are fighting sleep so much! I take the opportunity while they are awake to lay them on my posing beanbag to get some awake shots. This also helps your baby to get used to the smell and texture of the blankets I use. Underneath my blankets I use a heated blanket to keep your baby super warm too. While your baby is awake I don’t pose them on any…
Little Sitter Studio Sessions in Plymouth, Devon
Little Sitter studio sessions in Plymouth are one of my favourite sessions! It is that gorgeous age where your little one is sitting confidently and is full of giggles! What age are Little Sitter Studio Sessions for? These Little sitter studio sessions typically take place between 6-10 months of age. As soon as your little one can sit unaided they are invited to the studio for their session. To make the most from your session I strongly advise that they are a confident sitter. All babies develop differently at different ages so if your baby can sit before 6 months then they are very welcome to come to see us! It is so important to document all of these little moments so that these memories can be cherished forever! These sessions are perfect for marking all of the amazing achievements your baby has made so far including sitting up, giggling…
Newborn Safety in the studio comes first!
Working with newborns is a job that I absolutely love doing and it is such an honour every time a new precious bundle is brought to me. BUT newborn safety always has to come first! The most important thing during your newborn session is to ensure that your precious baby is kept safe at all times. I want to share a few little things that I focus on during all of my sessions to ensure that we can capture some beautiful photos whilst also making sure that your baby is taken extra special care of. In all of my galleries I include several photos that I composite together to create beautiful pieces of art with your little newborn. All photos that are captured in a prop are composited together after the session to ensure that you baby is always comfortable during your session and left to sleep for as long…
The newborn twin studio session for Charlie and Raffie
I LOVE twins so it was SUCH a delight when gorgeous little Charlie and Raffie came to visit me for their newborn twin session in Plymouth! These two little boys were 40 days new when they came for their session. They both slept perfectly. In newborn twin studio sessions I love capturing them together. After all the time together in the womb they are perfect for settling each other and offering that comfort that no one else can. The image below is achieved by compositing two images together in post production. This can only be achieved when both babies are very sleepy. Mum helped me for this one and if you want to see how it is done have a little look at my Newborn safety blog post. Babies don’t always stay asleep during their sessions and it was so much fun when these two woke up! They had such…

The Christmas studio newborn session for Hope
With Christmas just round the corner beautiful little Hope came to visit me in the studio for her themed Christmas studio newborn session. She slept beautifully! The comfort and safety of your baby is SO important during my sessions. (Check out my newborn safety blog post!) The following images are called composite images. This means that I pose your baby in some fluff or fabric and I edit them into the digital image in post production after your session. Christmas gingerbread is my favourite! In fact Christmas is my favourite time of year and I just love that I can get away with sparkles and glitter and cake! Little Hope just slept and slept and slept! It meant that I could achieve so many different poses during her photo shoot. Check out my blog on how best to prepare for your newborn session so that you can get the most…
